Wastewater Treatment Plants in Mediterranean Spain: An Exploration of Relations between Water Treatments, Water Reuse, and Governance

چکیده
Wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) are fundamental to enable the transition towards principles of a circular economy in water supply. In Mediterranean Spain, an area with recurrent episodes stress, treated wastewater may become critical resource for future. However, its incorporation into array potential options opens up questions regarding different qualities obtained each treatment, extent existing reuse practices, or governance regime plants. this paper, state WWTPs Spain is analyzed, focus on plant sizes, technologies, use, and regimes. The latter shows strong presence private lesser public–private WWTPs, while number public small. Regarding most sophisticated systems found that also largest size. Reclaimed very significant agricultural golf course irrigation some areas (Valencia, Murcia, Andalusia), but still relatively incipient other uses.

simulation and experimental studies for prediction mineral scale formation in oil field during mixing of injection and formation water
abstract: mineral scaling in oil and gas production equipment is one of the most important problem that occurs while water injection and it has been recognized to be a major operational problem. the incompatibility between injected and formation waters may result in inorganic scale precipitation in the equipment and reservoir and then reduction of oil production rate and water injection rate. ...
Biological Treatment and Reuse of Human Space Exploration Wastewater
Extending a human presence in the solar system requires in-situ resource recycling. Entrapped Mixed Microbial Cell (EMMC) process may be considered an alternative to achieving this aim. The intent of this investigation is to develop an operational criteria, process performance and economic evaluation to meet NASA needs. A double-layer EMMC configuration bioreactor of 7L at a packing ratio of 17...
متن کاملAdvanced technologies in water and wastewater treatment
The use of conventional water and wastewater treatment processes becomes increasingly challenged with the identification of more and more contaminants, rapid growth of population and industrial activities, and diminishing availability of water resources. Three emerging treatment technologies, including membrane filtration, advanced oxidation processes (AOPs), and UV irradiation, hold great prom...
متن کاملAssessment of Wastewater Treatment and Water Reuse Practices in the Gulf Countries
A major challenge for the 21 st century will be the efficient use of all resources to minimize wastage. Lack of fresh water is becoming one of the largest and most universal of the resource problems that we face in the new century. This leads us to consider the options for turning wastewaters into useful resources, with recovery of the water for reuse. Therefore, wastewater has become an essent...
متن کاملUpgrading Wastewater Treatment Plants Based on Reuse Demand, Technical and Environmental Policies (A Case Study)
Reclamation and reuse programs are an indispensable part of integrated water resource management, particularly in arid and semi arid regions. Yet, the feasibility of sustainable application not only is relied on design, operation and maintenance of wastewater treatment plants, but also could be influenced by the economical and environmental aspects of reuse demands. This study is aimed to illus...
