Spatial Distribution of Echinococcus multilocularis, Svalbard, Norway
In Svalbard, Norway, the only intermediate host for Echinococcus multilocularis, the sibling vole, has restricted spatial distribution. A survey of feces from the main host, the arctic fox, showed that only the area occupied by the intermediate host is associated with increased risk for human infection.
متن کاملAerosol optical properties in Northern Norway and Svalbard.
We present comparisons between estimates of the aerosol optical thickness and the Ångström exponent in Northern Norway and Svalbard based on data from AERONET (Aerosol Robotic Network) stations at Andenes (69.28°N, 16.01°E, 379 m altitude) and Hornsund (77.00°N, 15.56°E, 10 m altitude) for the period 2008-2013. The five/six-year annual mean values for the aerosol optical thickness at 500 nm τ(5...
متن کاملBibliometric Analysis of Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) Research 2000-2010
In the last decade, Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) has grown in popularity as one important method for optimization, compared to recent Differential Evolution (DE) and Harmony Search (HS). In this paper a bibliometric study is presented, carried out on the PSO research literature from 2000 to 2010. The Thomson Reuters Web of Science (WoS) was used to collect publication records and analyzed ...
متن کاملFemicide in Turkey between 2000 and 2010
Although intimate partner violence (IPV) is an important problem that threatens women's health, very few studies focus on the victim-perpetrator relationship or examine this relationship across Turkey. The aim of this study is to contribute to a better understanding of femicide cases in Turkey and to describe the socio-demographic, clinical, forensic, and criminological characteristics of femic...
متن کاملLevels of toxaphene congeners in white whales (Delphinapterus leucas) from Svalbard, Norway.
This study reports concentrations of three pesticide toxaphene congeners (CHBs; CHB-26, -50 and -62) from the blubber of ten adult, male white whales (Delphinapterus leucas) from Svalbard, Norway. The CHB congeners that occurred at the highest levels in the blubber of the white whales were, as expected, CHB-26 (4636+/-1992 (SD) ng/g l.w.) and CHB-50 (6579+/-2214 ng/g l.w.); CHB-62 (232+/-231 ng...
