Vulnerability of Street Trees in Upper Midwest Cities to Climate Change

چکیده
Urban trees play an important role in helping cities adapt to climate change, but also are vulnerable changes themselves. We developed approach for assessing vulnerability of urban tree species and cultivars commonly planted the United States Upper Midwest current projected change through end 21st century. Upper midwest climate variations: farmer responses to excess water risks.
Persistent above average precipitation and runoff and associated increased sediment transfers from cultivated ecosystems to rivers and oceans are due to changes in climate and human action. The US Upper Midwest has experienced a 37% increase in precipitation (1958-2012), leading to increased crop damage from excess water and off-farm loss of soil and nutrients. Farmer adaptive management respon...

The focus of the great majority of climate change impact studies is on changes in mean climate. In terms of climate model output, these changes are more robust than changes in climate variability. By concentrating on changes in climate means, the full impacts of climate change on biological and human systems are probably being seriously underestimated. Here we briefly review the possible impact...

This research offers a new framework for assessing social vulnerability to climate change. A social vulnerability assessment trial was carried out for Chinese coastal cities at the county level. First, the 10 factors having the most influence on social vulnerability were identified. They are “House with no lavatory”, “House with no bath facilities”, “Employees in primary industry”, “Houses with...

Fisheries support livelihood of over half a billion of people globally. Many of these people live in coastal regions of developing countries; and have limited capacity to adapt and build resilience in the face of climate change. This research assesses the biophysical and socioeconomic characteristics of fishers in four coastal communities, Komenda, Elmina, Cape coast and Morree, in Ghana. Stru...
