چکیده

This work presents the volcanic geology of easternmost sector Trans-Mexican Volcanic Belt, including Serdán-Oriental basin and Cofre de Perote-Citlaltépetl range, two contrasting Quaternary fields. The first comprises dominant monogenetic volcanism bimodal composition isolated rhyolitic domes tuff rings, basaltic andesite maar volcanoes, cinder lava cones, an active caldera complex (Los Humeros). second is dominated by large composite polygenetic volcanoes andesitic-dacitic composition, shield-like compound Perote volcano, La Gloria Las Cumbres complexes, Citlaltépetl stratovolcano. Mapping units include a pre-volcanic basement made metamorphic (Paleozoic), sedimentary (Jurassic-Cretaceous); intrusive (Miocene) rocks; multiple basaltic-andesitic flows domes; volcaniclastic sequences (debris avalanches lahars; pyroclastic deposits (block-and-ash flows, ignimbrites, fallouts, surges) (Miocene-Holocene). map provides comprehensive view highly diverse volcanism, which may reference for future research work.

High variability of dung beetle diversity patterns at four mountains of the Trans-Mexican Volcanic Belt

Insect diversity patterns of high mountain ecosystems remain poorly studied in the tropics. Sampling dung beetles of the subfamilies Aphodiinae, Scarabaeinae, and Geotrupinae was carried out at four volcanoes in the Trans-Mexican Volcanic Belt (TMVB) in the Mexican transition zone at 2,700 and 3,400 MASL, and on the windward and leeward sides. Sampling units represented a forest-shrubland-pastu...

Ecological Speciation in Nolina parviflora (Asparagaceae): Lacking Spatial Connectivity along of the Trans-Mexican Volcanic Belt

The hypothesis of ecological speciation states that as populations diverge in different niches, reproductive isolation evolves as a by-product of adaptation to these different environments. In this context, we used Nolina parviflora as a model to test if this species evolved via ecological speciation and to explore current and historical gene flow among its populations. Nolina parviflora is a m...

Absarokites from the Western Mexican Volcanic Belt: Constraints

We have investigated the near liquidus phase relations of a primitive absarokite from the Mascota region in Western Mexico. Sample M. 102 was chosen because it has high MgO contents, a high Mg# and Fo90 olivine phenocrysts, indicating it is primitive mantle melt. Highpressure experiments on a synthetic analogue of the absarokite composition with a H20 content of either -1.7 wt% or -5.1 wt% were...

Continental Rift Setting for the Central Part of the Mexican Volcanic Belt: A Statistical Approach

I prepared compilations of geochemical data from the central part of the Mexican Volcanic Belt (C-MVB), the Central American Volcanic Arc (CAVA) from Guatemala to northwestern Costa Rica, the continental arc of the Andes in South America, other mostly island arcs, extensional and continental break-up regions, and continental rifts. Using quantitative statistical methods, the origin of the C-MVB...
