Volatiles and Intraplate Magmatism: a Variable Role for Carbonated and Altered Oceanic Lithosphere in Ocean Island Basalt Formation

چکیده
Abstract Recycling of material at subduction zones has fundamental implications for melt composition and mantle rheology. Ocean island basalts (OIBs) sample parts the from variable depths that have been diversely affected by zone processes materials, including subducted slab, metasomatising melts fluids. Resultant geochemical differences are preserved a variety scales inclusions to whole rocks, individual islands chains islands. Here we examine global dataset ocean basalt compositions with view understanding connection between silica-saturation, olivine compositions, halogens in glass olivine-hosted reveal information regarding sources intraplate magmatism. We find minor elements incorporated into olivine, although informative, cannot unambiguously discriminate different source contributions, but indicate none OIB analysed here derived solely dry peridotite melting. Nor can lithospheric thickness explain trace element variability present new halogen (F, Cl, Br/Cl, I/Cl) data along incompatible array encourage measurement fluorine heavier obtain better insight cycling. suggest Ti-rich silica-undersaturated require contribution carbonated lithosphere, either or eclogite an important component sampled basalts, together altered oceanic crust. These results provide insights our mantle-scale cycles, also lead potential transition as underestimated observed volatile trace-element enrichment basalts.

simulation and experimental studies for prediction mineral scale formation in oil field during mixing of injection and formation water
abstract: mineral scaling in oil and gas production equipment is one of the most important problem that occurs while water injection and it has been recognized to be a major operational problem. the incompatibility between injected and formation waters may result in inorganic scale precipitation in the equipment and reservoir and then reduction of oil production rate and water injection rate. ...
Recycling deep cratonic lithosphere and generation of intraplate magmatism in the North China Craton
Early Cretaceous alkaline picrites and high-magnesium basalts from the North China craton provide evidence for recycling of continental lithosphere by density foundering. Both the picrites and basalts contain xenocrystic olivines with high Fo92-93 and low CaO (<0.10%), consistent with the lavas’ derivation from, or interaction with Archean mantle lithosphere. Most importantly, both the picritic...

this study intends to investigate samuel beckett’s waiting for godot and endgame under the lacanian psychoanalysis. it begins by explaining the most important concepts of lacanian psychoanalysis. the beckettian characters are studied regarding their state of unconscious, and not the state of consciousness as is common in most beckett studies. according to lacan, language plays the sole role in ...
Compression of Oceanic Lithosphere: An Analysis of Intraplate Deformation in the Central Indian Basin
Intraplate compressional deformation in the Central Indian Basin is expressed as linear E-W trending topographic undulations and geoid anomlies with characteristic spacings of approximately 200 km. To elucidate the nature of this deformation, we develop models of an oceanic lithosphere in a state of horizontal compression. The lithosphere is treated as a viscous or plastic layer of uniform stre...
