The emigration of Istrian Italians after the Second World War, most often called “Exodus”, has been a frequent topic many historical and anthropological studies. This paper reports on new findings based EU project Identity Line, which studied interpreted series involuntary migrations unwanted consequences for peoples, communities individuals in Europe middle 20th century. In research an effort was made to find testimonies stories reach voices that had not “heard” thus far. this process, it became obvious status fate who did emigrate, so-called “Rimasti” (less so far) is very complex due ambivalent relationship with emigrated (the “Esuli”) as well newly created social environment. Photographs statements from both were collected meant be used two exhibitions, films publications, bringing light their intimate accounts (some told first time), presenting them public space. transformation necessarily implied careful sensitive cooperation informants, aim making traumas more visible, establishing museums institutions where increased efforts are communicate “difficult heritage”.
