Vitiligo in the City of Bukavu ( Democratic Republic of Congo)

Background: Vitiligo is a skin disorder characterized by selective loss of melanocytes resulting in circumscribed, depigmented macules and patches. Although it does not cause physical pain that warrants patient to complain, its effects can be psychological, leading stigmatization suicidal ideation.
 Patients methods: We conducted cross-sectional study with descriptive aim over period one year 8 months (February 1, 2019, September 30, 2020). The patients attending the dermatology-venereology services University Clinics Bukavu (CUB) Saint-Luc Clinic (CSLB) were recruited into study. It focused on received consultation for vitiligo. diagnosis vitiligo was made based clinical examination when doubt, biopsy carried out confirm histological diagnosis. data entered analysed using Epi info3.5.1.
 Results: prevalence this 2.0%. mean age 24.5 years range from 6 73 years. group most affected 0 9 41.9%. female sex represented 61.3% M/F ratio 1.5. Stress (12.9) repeated trauma (6.5) reported triggers. Family history present 29.0% cases. Atopy (29.0%) thyroiditis (9.7%) common associated pathologies. Preferred lesion locations face (48.4%), external genitalia (41.9%) extremities (22.6%). predominant form non-segmental (80.6%). Among paraclinical examinations out, inflammatory assessment disturbed (9.7%).
 Conclusion: dermatosis affect anyone; regardless gender, or race.
