Target modality affects visually guided online control of reaching

The integration of vision and proprioception for estimating the hand's starting location prior to a reach has been shown to depend on the modality of the target towards which the reach is planned. Here we investigated whether the processing of online feedback is also influenced by target modality. Participants made reaching movements to a target that was defined by vision, proprioception, or bo...

Using of frailty model baseline proportional hazard rate in Real Data Analysis

Many populations encountered in survival analysis are often not homogeneous. Individuals are flexible in their susceptibility to causes of death, response to treatment and influence of various risk factors. Ignoring this heterogeneity can result in misleading conclusions. To deal with these problems, the proportional hazard frailty model was introduced. In this paper, the frailty model is ex...

Transcranial magnetic stimulation and preparation of visually-guided reaching movements

To better define the neural networks related to preparation of reaching, we applied transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) to the lateral parietal and frontal cortex. TMS did not evoke effects closely related to preparation of reaching, suggesting that neural networks already identified by our group are not larger than previously thought. We also replicated previous TMS/EEG data by applying TM...

The role of memory in visually guided reaching.

People can be shown to use memorized location information to move their hand to a target location if no visual information is available. However, for several reasons, memorized information may be imprecise and inaccurate. Here, we study whether and to what extent humans use the remembered location of an object to plan reaching movements when the target is visible. Subjects sequentially picked u...

Visually guided reaching for food in binocularly deprived cats.

Four visually deprived cats and four controls were tested in reaching for food from a cage. In each trial the animals in the groups responded immediately after unscreening the cage. However, in reaction time of forelimb extension the deprived group showed proportionally fewer responses with shorter reaction time than the control group.
