The switch from a carbon-based to hydrogen-based economy requires environmentally friendly methods for hydrogen production. CO 2 -reforming of methane promises be greener alternative steam-methane reforming, which accounts the majority production today. For this dry process become industrially competitive, challenges such as catalyst deactivation and degradation through coke formation must better understood ultimately overcome. While bulk characterisation provide wealth useful information about carbon formed during coking, spatially resolved techniques are required understand type extent supported particles themselves under coking conditions. Here, lab-based X-ray nano-computed tomography, in conjunction with range complementary techniques, is utilised effects nickel-to-cobalt ratio on individual particles. Findings suggest that bimetallic system greatly outperforms monometallic catalysts, between nickel cobalt having significant impact quantity breakdown.
