Virgin Binder Determination for High RAP Content Mixture Design

نویسندگان

چکیده

Reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP) has been widely implemented in construction due to its cost benefits along with reasonable engineering performance. With the trend of higher RAP applications, it is more critical consider complicated interactions between and virgin binders. An unreasonable assumption full blending material could lead many issues, such as insufficient binder content poor durability. This paper focuses on determination grades during design a high mixture by considering effectiveness. By integrating ratio parameter, modified chart proposed determine PG grade binder, partial method used estimate optimum content. It found that when an 83% considered 40%-content design, differences determined from traditional one within 6° (one grade). If 56% or less for mixture, required base needs drop (6°). Moreover, typically demands 0.5%–1% than Superpave volumetric method, which result significantly improved cracking performance without jeopardizing rutting resistance.

Modeling of Resilient Modulus of Asphalt Concrete Containing Reclaimed Asphalt Pavement using Feed-Forward and Generalized Regression Neural Networks

Reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP) is one of the waste materials that highway agencies promote to use in new construction or rehabilitation of highways pavement. Since the use of RAP can affect the resilient modulus and other structural properties of flexible pavement layers, this paper aims to employ two different artificial neural network (ANN) models for modeling and evaluating the effects of ...

Evaluating the Performance of Hot Mix Asphalt with Reclaimed Asphalt Pavement and Heavy Vacuum Slops as Rejuvenator

Due to the high price of crude oil, and consequently asphalt binder, the application of Reclaimed Asphalt Pavement (RAP) in pavement technology is widely considered. The present paper is the result of a laboratory research which was carried out to investigate the effects of adding a rejuvenating agent to Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) with RAP. To this end, test samples comprised of Aged Asphalt Binder ...
