چکیده
Background: Asthma is a heterogeneous disease characterized by chronic airway inflammation. Thevirus infection in respiratory tract will activate greater pro-inflammatory cytokines asthma patients. The enhancement of induces various clinical symptoms. This study aims toinvestigate the virus and characteristics among patients with acute exacerbation. Methods: In this study, subjects were divided into 3 groups based on exacerbation triggers. The first group triggered infection; second non-virus ILI; andthe third without any infection. Nasopharynx or throat swabs collected to detect respiratoryvirus. Virus was detected Multiplex PCR (xTAG Respiratory Viral Panel Fast V2/ LUMINEX)Results: According examination, prevalence 46.2%. Only two types ofviruses identified, which Influenza A Rhinovirus. All showeda symptom cough purulent sputum, while no from other showed similarsymptoms. PEFR % prediction higher than inRhinovirus infected-patients (210 L/min 48.6% vs 195 45%).Conclusion: Acute one most reasons came emergency ward. Themajority caused infection, it viral Clinicalsign differs according trigger, therefore use antibiotics should be avoided, unless there are signsand symptoms bacterial infections

Comparing Serum Procalcitonin Levels Between Patients with Acute Exacerbation of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease and Patients with Acute Exacerbation of Asthma
Background and purpose: Serum procalcitonin (PCT) indicates a bacterial infection that can reduce the administration of antibiotics. The aim of this study was to compare serum procalcitonin levels in patients with acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and asthma and its relationship with lung function and inflammatory factors. Materials and methods: In this cross-s...
متن کاملLymphocytes apoptosis in patients with acute exacerbation of asthma.
Asthma is characterized by airway inflammation, which can be now assessed by the analysis of induced sputum. Ten patients with asthma were investigated during acute exacerbation for the quantification of apoptosis, for Bcl-2 and Fas expression, in induced sputum lymphocytes. They were compared to 12 patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and 10 healthy controls. Spontaneous...
متن کاملViral causes of acute respiratory infection among Egyptian children hospitalized with severe acute asthma exacerbation.
BACKGROUND Viral respiratory infections are associated with nearly 80% of asthma exacerbation episodes. These can have severe adverse outcomes in patients with established asthma. AIM The aim of the study was to identify the viral causes of acute respiratory infection that precipitate acute asthma exacerbation in Egyptian asthmatic children. PATIENTS AND METHODS The current prospective stud...
متن کامل[Localization and expression of Slingshot-1L in peripheral eosinophils from patients with acute asthma exacerbation].
OBJECTIVE Eosinophils play a pivotal role in asthmatic airway inflammation. We previously found a significantly high expression of Slingshot-1L (SSH-1L) in peripheral eosinophils in acute exacerbations of asthma. Objective To investigate the expression and localization patterns of SSH-1L in peripheral blood eosinophils of asthmatic patients and their changes after treatment with inhaled cortico...
