Vertical and Lateral Distribution of Heavy Metals in the Euphrates River Sediments between Heet and Fallujah, Western Iraq

چکیده
In recent decades, significant attention has been paid to heavy metal contamination as a dangerous environmental problem because of the toxicity, abundance, persistence and bioaccumulation these elements (Chen et al., 2016,) (Islam 2017 ) (Jin 2019). general, state environment is evaluated by total concentration metals (Kanda 2018). The riverine sediments are considered main basins for various pollutants following largely uncontrolled discharge resulting from human activities geogenic processes (Liu sediment an important indicator variation result anthropogenic influence (Gao River serve not only major sink carrier but also potential sources secondary pollution, which can reflect their level (Tang 2014 (Hsu 2016). released into aquatic environments sources. include chemical leaching bedrock, water drainage runoff banks (Raj 2017). pollution in systems mining activities, industrial wastes disposal pesticides use, (Chakravarty & Patgiri, 2009). quality (Zhao 2012). distribution levels supplies base consideration treatment methods evaluation releasing transport downstream (Nawrot 2020). vertical spatial have many world rivers, such Yinma River, China (Guan 2018), Voghji Armenia (Gabrielyan Barigui Brazil (Machado 2017), Harazdan (Petrosyan 2019), Thames UK (Vane 2020), Yang Lu (Ye Euphrates Iraq investigated authors (Issa Qanbar, 2016); (Al-Taher 2020); (Hussain Al-Jaberi, concentrations along studied area between Heet Ramadi Cities (Al-Bassam Al-Mukhtar, 2008) (Salah aim study investigate how laterally vertically distributed given Fallujah Cities. This represents first attempt sediments.

Distribution of heavy metals in water, sediments and fish tissue (Heteropneustis fossilis) in Kali River of western U.P. India
The present study the selected heavy metals such as cadmium (Cd), chromium (Cr), lead (Pb), Manganese (Mn) and cooper (Cu) were determined in water, sediment and gill, liver, muscle of fish H. fossilis, the concentration of Cd, Cr, Pb, Cu Mn and Zn was observed 0.009, 0.056, 0.056, 0.058, 0.049, 0.883, 0.36 mg/l in river water and 3.38, 20.11, 81.53, 258.48, 258.48, 3.40 μg/g in sediment respec...
متن کاملAssessment of Heavy Metals Pollution in Water and Sediments of Djendjen River, North Eastern Algeria
Water and sediment samples have been collected from five different stations, located along Djendjen River between February and June, 2016 so that the concentrations of Cd, Ni, Zn, and Cu could be determined. The extent of the sediment pollution has been assessed, using the multiple pollution indices, namely Contamination Factor (CF), Pollution Load Index (PLI), and the geoaccumulation index (Ig...
