Verification of Methods for Determining Flow Resistance Coefficients for Floodplains with Flexible Vegetation

In terms of the hydraulic effect plant flexibility, particular note is calculation formula that was proposed by Kouwen, which combines roughness riverbed with community parameter MEJ (including modulus elasticity). Kouwen’s method developed on basis laboratory experiments low vegetation (grasses). According to authors this work, can also be used evaluate resistance medium (shrubs) deforming under influence water flow.
