Verbal Aggressiveness against Public Figures’ Language: An Analysis of Tweeps’ Comments on Twitter

Aggressive communicators take opportunities to attack the self-concept of others on Twitter. Among other Twitter users, public figures tend receive more verbally aggressive comments. This study identified forms verbal aggressiveness contained in tweeps’ comments and analyzed underlying rationales tweeps express such behavior. From 120 analyzed, character was found 10 (8.3 %), competence 3 (2.5 physical appearance 22 (18.3 dominant kind aggressiveness—insult 38 (31.8 minor aggressiveness—malediction 1 tweep’s comment (0.8 teasing 33 (27.5 profanity 13 (10.8 %).
