Variation in floral characteristics and growth habits within the native range of North American wildflower Ratibida columnifera (Nutt.) Wooton & Standl. suggest potential for breeding selection efforts to develop improved cultivars commercial residential landscapes. Toward that end, experiments vegetative propagation were performed enable perpetuation unique germplasm. Stem development stage, applications auxin, genotypic variation, effects bottom heat assessed determine impacts on rooting percentages adventitious root system quality measures. Younger apical stem sections rooted more readily produced better systems than lignified basal cuttings. Optimal cutting ranged from 0.10% 0.30% IBA (indole-3-butyric acid) quick dips, with being optimal most genotypes. Application 26 °C ability both cool warm seasons compared ambient 32 °C.
