Variations in Wedge Earthquake Distribution along the Strike Underlain by Thermally Controlled Hydrated Megathrusts

Accretionary wedge earthquakes usually occur in the overriding crust close to trench or above cold nose of mantle wedge. However, mechanism and temperature properties related slab dip angle remain poorly understood. Based on 3D thermal models estimate subduction plate structure, we investigate distribution Alaska, which has a varying along trench. The horizontal distance wedge-earthquake hypocenters significantly increases from Aleutian Islands south–central Alaska due transition steep flat subduction. Slab dehydration inside subducted Pacific indicates simultaneous change distances between intraslab metamorphic fronts Alaskan Trench at various depths, is associated with flattening eastward strike. across-arc width source zone consistent surface high topography fully dehydrated megathrust, fluid upwelling spontaneously influences seismotectonics orogenesis.
