Variability of Value of Trauma Centers to General Surgery Combat Casualty Care Skill Sustainment

Military-civilian partnerships for the maintenance of trauma readiness skills will be required to maintain in preparation future combat casualty care operations. There is little data describing relative worth potential partnerships. This study aims demonstrate that quantitative and qualitative differences are prevalent between centers. A relevant case (CCC-RC) was determined one open, urgent, a blood transfusion. Total number urgent cases requiring transfusions January 1, 2017 2019 were tallied at Saint Louis University Hospital (ACS Level 1), San Antonio Military Medical Center Madigan Army (Washington 2), William Beaumont (Texas 3). At participating level 1 centers, segregated by surgeon. (SLU), (SAMMC), (MAMC), (WBAMC). All general surgery/trauma hospitals 2019. total 267 721 performed trauma/general surgeons SAMMC CCC-RCs, SLU 213 342, MAMC, 5 13, WBAMC 33. While had most cases, highest ratio CCC-RC (p < 0.0001). The average CCC-RCs top each institutions 15.7 cases/year (60.5%) 10.3 (33.6%) definition easily used distinguish value relevancy centers surgeon readiness. volume proportions significantly different military designated currently inadequate support all needs.
