Valuative Invariants with Higher Moments

نویسندگان

چکیده

In this article we introduce a family of valuative invariants defined in terms the p-th moment expected vanishing order. These lie between $$\alpha $$ and $$\delta -invariants. They vary continuously big cone semi-continuously families. Most importantly, they give sufficient conditions for K-stability Fano varieties, which generalizes -criterions literature. are also related to $$d_p$$ -geometry maximal geodesic rays.

Valuative invariants for polymatroids

Many important invariants for matroids and polymatroids, such as the Tutte polynomial, the Billera-JiaReiner quasi-symmetric function, and the invariant G introduced by the first author, are valuative. In this paper we construct the Z-modules of all Z-valued valuative functions for labeled matroids and polymatroids on a fixed ground set, and their unlabeled counterparts, the Z-modules of valuat...

Portfolio Selection with Higher Moments

We propose a method for optimal portfolio selection using a Bayesian framework that addresses two major shortcomings of the Markowitz approach: the ability to handle higher moments and estimation error. We employ the skew normal distribution which has many attractive features for modeling multivariate returns. Our results suggest that it is important to incorporate higher order moments in portf...

Translation invariants of Zernike moments

Moment functions de0ned using a polar coordinate representation of the image space, such as radial moments and Zernike moments, are used in several recognition tasks requiring rotation invariance. However, this coordinate representation does not easily yield translation invariant functions, which are also widely sought after in pattern recognition applications. This paper presents a mathematica...

Higher ¤ Invariants

The ¤-invariant is an invariant of odd dimensional manifolds with finite fundamental group, and lies in the representations modulo the regular representations (ß ̨). It is a fundamental invariant that occurs in classifying lens spaces [AB], their homotopy analogues [W1], and is intimately related to ·-invariant for the signature operator [APS]. The goal of this note is to use some of the technol...
