ValSten: a new wild species derived allotetraploid for increasing genetic diversity of the peanut crop (Arachis hypogaea L.)

چکیده

Abstract Introgression of desirable traits from wild relatives plays an important role in crop improvement, as species have characters such high resistance to pests and pathogens. However, use peanut is challenging because almost all are diploid sexually incompatible with cultivated peanut, which tetraploid (AABB genome type; 2 n = 4x 40). To overcome the ploidy barrier, we used make a same allotetraploid composition peanut. Crosses were made between species, Arachis valida Krapov. W.C. Greg. (BB genome; 2x 20) stenosperma (AA 20). Cuttings F 1 AB hybrid treated colchicine induce chromosome doubling thus generating induced allotetraploid. Chromosome counts confirmed polyploidy We named new ValSten. Plants had well-developed fertile pollen, produced abundant seed compatible ValSten exhibits early late leaf spot rust its parents. Notably, observed morphological variations, including flower width branch angles earliest generation (S 0 ) allotetraploids. A SNP array was genotype 47 S The great majority markers showed additive allelic state both parents (AABB). some loci AAAA or BBBB, indicating homeologous recombination. provides new, vigorous, highly fertile, disease resistant germplasm for research improvement.

The Proteins of the Peanut, Arachis Hypogaea.

The ravages of the boll weevil have made it unprofitable to grow cotton in various sections throughout the South. In many regions where the growing of cotton has been decreased, peanuts are now being grown as a supplementary crop. This has caused a large increase in the production of peanuts in the United States. A number of mills which in the past produced cottonseed oil are now using their pr...

A Developmental Transcriptome Map for Allotetraploid Arachis hypogaea

The advent of the genome sequences of Arachis duranensis and Arachis ipaensis has ushered in a new era for peanut genomics. With the goal of producing a gene atlas for cultivated peanut (Arachis hypogaea), 22 different tissue types and ontogenies that represent the full development of peanut were sequenced, including a complete reproductive series from flower to peg elongation and peg tip immer...
