Validation of a Useful Tool for Screening for Overweight and Obesity in Pre-Adolescents

The purpose of this observational study with a convenience sample is to validate simple measurement the mid-upper arm circumference establish screening points using tape (MUAC) for childhood overweight and obesity between 9 12 years age, or from 4th grade 6th grade. Prior study, pilot validation MUAC measure versus anthropometric standard was carried out. total cut-offs 360 school students. results obtained had predictive value according evaluation area under curve 0.96 detection cut-off were established at 23.3 22.4 cm grade, 23.6 22.7 5th 24.6 23.8 boys girls, respectively. 25.2 23.9 26.4 25.1 27.7 values are different not only sexes, but also increase as age specific course increases.
