Vacuolar Phosphate Transporter1 (VPT1) may transport sugar in response to soluble sugar status of grape fruits

چکیده
Abstract Vacuolar Phosphate Transporter1 (VPT1)-mediated phosphate uptake in the vacuoles is essential to plant development and fruit ripening. Interestingly, here we find that VPT1 may transport sugar response soluble status of fruits. The VvVPT1 protein isolated from grape (Vitis vinifera) berries was tonoplast-localized contains SPX (Syg1/Pho81/XPR1) MFS (major facilitator superfamily) domains. Its mRNA expression significantly increased during ripening induced by sucrose. Functional analyses based on transient transgenic systems berry showed positively regulated affected hexose contents, firmness, ripening-related gene expression. proteins (Grape VvVPT1, strawberry FaVPT1, Arabidopsis AtVPT1) all low affinity for verified yeast system, while they appear different capacity, consistent with status. Thus, our findings reveal a role ripening, associated its domains direct available into vacuole, open potential avenues genetic improvement fleshy fruit.

Sugar Transport in Neurospora
A number of independent systems for sugar transport in Neurospora have been postulated. An approach to identification of specific components of the sorbose transport system in ungerminated conidia pretreated with sorbose is described here. The fact that sorbose stimulates sorbose-uptake without causing germination was exploited in differential labeling experiments. Sorbose treated and untreated...
متن کاملSugar transport in conducting elements of sugar beet leaves.
Autoradiography was used to determine the distribution of labeled sugar in conducting elements of the blade and petiole of sugar beet leaves at intervals ranging from 5 sec to 24 hr. The processes of assimilation by the green cells, collection of sugar in the minor veins and export in phloem elements were demonstrated visually. It appears that in minor veins sugar is translocated in companion c...
متن کاملInter-Species Comparative Analysis of Components of Soluble Sugar Concentration in Fleshy Fruits
The soluble sugar concentration of fleshy fruit is a key determinant of fleshy fruit quality. It affects directly the sweetness of fresh fruits and indirectly the properties of processed products (e.g., alcohol content in wine). Despite considerable divergence among species, soluble sugar accumulation in a fruit results from the complex interplay of three main processes, namely sugar import, su...
متن کامل'Active' sugar transport in eukaryotes.
Sugar transporters in prokaryotes and eukaryotes belong to a large family of membrane proteins containing 12 transmembrane alpha-helices. They are divided into two classes: one facilitative (uniporters) and the other concentrative (cotransporters or symporters). The concentrative transporters are energised by either H+ or Na+ gradients, which are generated and maintained by ion pumps. The facil...
متن کاملSugar Transport in Neurospora crassa*
The transport of several sugars by cells of Neurospora crassa grown in shake culture has been investigated. 3-OMethyl-n-glucose is a substrate for the glucose transport system in glucose-grown cells but cannot be phosphorylated by the ATP-dependent hexokinase which readily catalyzes the phosphorylation of D-glucose. Since this nonmetabolizable glucose analogue cannot be accumulated against a co...
