Utilizing the Expectancy Value Theory to Predict Lecturer Motivation to Apply Culturally Responsive Pedagogies in Universities in Botswana

The expectancy value theory (EVT) has been used in many studies to predict the motivation processes of individuals with regard how they think and act particular ways. Critical are three elements EVT, namely cognition (expectancy), instrumentality (instrumentality) valence. This study therefore seeks establish whether EVT could be explain lecturers apply culturally responsive pedagogies (CRPs) teaching heterogeneous classes universities Botswana. Using a sample 291 from selected universities, employed structured questionnaire for data collection. Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) was purification. Structural equation modelling (SEM) using AMOS version 22 analysis. established that (β = .419; p < .001) .315; cognitions as well valence .268; had significant influence on CRPs universities. These results also showed relationships between .316; .301; .001). demonstrate their diverse university students.
