Utilization Optimization of Capacitive Pulsed Power Supply in Railgun

The excitation pulse current used to drive the railgun needs present very a high magnitude (hundreds of kA) flat-top with low ripple. At present, main method obtain this is increase number capacitive pulsed power supply (PPS) modules. However, utilization and massive volume system would occur method, hampering application railgun. Therefore, optimization technology PPS researched in paper. In order highly stable current, control strategy designed, new charging voltage configuration proposed, which significantly decreases use Besides, miniaturization transformation scheme proposed based on strategy. result shows that ripple has biggest influence utilization, smaller ripple, lower utilization. When 200 kA 0.75% achieved, an 81.9% decrease 428.7% improvement are achieved through transformation.
