Utilization of Shredded Steam-Exploded Pine Particles as a Dietary Ingredient to Modify Cecal Microbiota in Broilers

Sawdust and wood shavings are the major industrial waste from its related industries. Steam-explosion treatment enhances utilizable fiber fraction in pinewood particles. This study investigated effects of adding up to 2% steam-exploded pine particles (SPPs) diets on growth performance cecal microbiome broilers. On 8th day age, 216 Ross 308 broilers were allocated three treatments 72 broilers/group, with 12 replicates 6 each, receive 0%, 1%, SPPs their diets. The experimental period was 28th age. parameters recorded included performance, relative organ weight (duodenum, jejunum, ileum, liver, spleen), absolute length cecum), blood biochemicals (glucose, total protein, triglyceride, cholesterol), microbial analysis cecum samples. Growth parameters, such as average daily gain, feed intake, conversion ratio, weight, length, biochemical not influenced by dietary supplementation SPP. abundance fibrolytic bacterial genera, Mediterraneibacter Anaerobutyricum, increased SPP-supplemented chickens. An unknown genus also enhanced family fiber-degrading bacteria needs further investigation.
