Using HeuristicsMiner to Analyze Problem-Solving Processes

This paper presents a fine-grained process analysis of 22 students in classroom-based learning setting. The engaged (and failed) problem-solving attempts prior to instruction (i.e., the Productive-Failure approach). We used HeuristicsMiner algorithm analyze data quasi-experimental study. applied allowed us investigate temporally structured think-aloud data, outline productive and unproductive strategies. Our analyses findings demonstrated that enables researchers effectively mine processes sequences, even for smaller sample sizes, which cannot be done with traditional code-and-count limitations algorithm, as well further implications educational research practice, are also discussed.
