Using GPS Trajectories to Adaptively Plan Bus Lanes

نویسندگان

چکیده

Since bus prioritization policies can help mitigate urban traffic jams, the planning of lanes has drawn considerable attention. Existing methods suffer from a common limitation, which is that limited spatial adaptability resulting certain road condition information cannot be directly specified. Many GPS trajectories have been accumulated and contiguously gathered if needed. This paper proposes trajectory-based lane method. First, we formulize problem as multiobjective optimization in conditions, flow, connectivity lanes, construction cost are organized four constraints, utilization punctuality modeled two objectives. Then, an evolutionary algorithm-based method presented to solve problem. We tested model Nanshan District, Shenzhen City, China. Through comparison with existing survey-based methods, parameters associated conditions this extracted trajectories, more effectively deployed than other methods. cover wide area needed, because proposed executed, adapted large scales.

Using Gps for Bus Priority in London: Traffic Signals Close to Bus Stops

London's bus network is one of the largest and most comprehensive urban transport systems in the world. The contribution of buses is recognised by implementing a series of initiatives including bus priority at traffic signals. London has a long history of the implementation of bus priority at traffic signals. It has kept pace with the development of new technologies by updating its bus priority...

Bus Lanes with Intermittent Priority: Screening Formulae and an Evaluation

This paper evaluates strategies for operating buses on signal-controlled arterials using special lanes that are made intermittently available to general traffic. The advantage of special bus lanes, intermittent or dedicated, is that they free buses from traffic interference; the disadvantage is that they disrupt traffic. We find that intermittent lanes, unlike dedicated ones, do not significant...

Ex-Ante Evaluation of Exclusive Bus Lanes Implementation

This article presents a comprehensive approach for the ex-ante evaluation and the identification of relevant impacts related to the implementation of Exclusive Bus Lanes (EBL). It proposes indicators to measure the impacts related to key stakeholders: public transport operators, taxis, private vehicle drivers and passengers, as well as society regarding energy and the environment. Impact values...

Optimal Connected Urban Bus Network of Priority Lanes

This work presents a new approach and modeling for selecting an optimal network of public transport (PT) priority lanes. Bus priority schemes and techniques on urban roads and highways have proven effective for almost a half century. Many bus-priority studies have been published and demonstrated worldwide, but none is dealt with optimal connected network of PT priority lanes. The approach used ...

Analysis of Bus Tracking System Using GPS on Smartphones

Public transport networks (PTNs) are difficult to use when the user is unfamiliar with the area they are traveling to. This is true for both infrequent users (including visitors) and regular users who need to travel to areas with which they are not acquainted. In these situations, adequate on-trip navigation information can substantially ease the use of public transportation and be the driving ...
