Using discourse markers to negotiate epistemic stance: A view from situated language use

چکیده
In this paper, I analyse the usage of a discourse marker =mari, belonging to epistemic paradigm attested in Upper Napo Kichwa (Quechuan, Ecuador). show that use =mari indicates information is known well speaker, but also some extent familiar addressee. situated language use, contributes creating knowing stance speaker. The analysis presented here based on 13-h documentary corpus interactive discourse, recorded audio and video. For purpose relevant utterances are analysed their broad interactional context, including not only surrounding text, relationships between interlocutors, shared life experience possible knowledge derived from other sources. First, semantic pragmatic contribution conversational turn it occurs in, drawing conversations extracted corpus. Following that, how tokens sequences, examine semantics/pragmatics clitic discursive actions achieved by turns which contain it.
