چکیده
Abstract We present the photometry of 16 91T/99aa-like Type Ia Supernovae (SNe Ia) observed by Las Cumbres Observatory. also use an additional set 21 SNe and 87 normal from literature for analysis standardizability luminosity SNe. find that are 0.2 mag brighter than Ia, even when fully corrected light-curve shapes colors. The weighted rms (with z CMB > 0.01) Hubble residuals is 0.25 ± 0.03 mag, suggesting excellent relative distance indicators to ±12%. compare with pseudo-equivalent width (pEW) Si ii ?? 6355 around date maximum brightness. there a broken linear correlation between those two measurements our sample including both Ia. As pEW max (Si 6355) increases, residual increases < 55.6 Å. However, stays constant beyond this. Given possess shallower lines at Å can account overall discrepancy derived subgroups. Such systematic effect needs be taken into using measure distances.

Type II Supernovae as Standardized Candles
We present evidence for a correlation between expansion velocities of the ejecta of Type II plateau supernovae and their bolometric luminosities during the plateau phase. This correlation permits one to standardize the candles and decrease the scatter in the Hubble diagram from ∼1 mag to a level of 0.4 and 0.3 mag in the V and I bands, respectively. When we restrict the sample to the eight obje...
متن کاملType Ia Supernovae as Extragalactic Distance Indicators
Because Type Ia supernovae (SNe Ia) are not perfect standard candles, it is important to be able to use distance–independent observables (DIOs) to define subsets of SNe Ia that are " nearly standard candles " or to correct SN Ia absolute magnitudes to make them nearly homogeneous (" standardized candles "). This is not crucial for the measurement of H 0 , but it is for the measurement of q 0 an...
متن کاملType Ia supernova diversity: Standardizing the candles
Future use of type Ia supernovae for cosmology aims not only to determine the equation of state of dark energy, but also to constrain possible variations in its value. To achieve this goal, supernovae need to become better calibrated standard candles — not only to improve the precision of the measurement, but more importantly to gain better control over systematic uncertainties in order to ensu...
متن کاملType Ia Supernovae
Type Ia Supernovae are in many aspects still enigmatic objects. Their observational and theoretical exploration is in full swing, but we still have plenty to learn about these explosions. Recent years have already witnessed a bonanza of supernova observations. The increased samples from dedicated searches have allowed the statistical investigation of Type Ia Supernovae as a class. The observati...
متن کاملDust around Type Ia supernovae
An explanation is given of the low value of Rλ ≡ Aλ/E(B − V ), the ratio of absolute to selective extinction deduced from Type Ia supernova observations. The idea involves scattering by dust clouds located in the circumstellar environment, or at the highest velocity shells of the supernova ejecta. The scattered light tends to reduce the effective Rλ in the optical, but has an opposite effect in...
