User-Specific Route Planning for People with Motor Disabilities: A Fuzzy Approach

Mobility is fundamental for social participation. Everyone benefits from pedestrian networks their mobility and daily activities. People without disabilities may have little difficulty walking on narrow sidewalks, over potholes, so on. However, people with motor (PWMD) find it more difficult to deal such conditions. For PWMD, even routine trips are often fraught problems, many different obstacles restricting consequently rendering participation in recreational activities difficult. The potential problems risks associated PWMD could be significantly reduced if navigation systems provided them appropriate accessible routes. These routes should consider PWMD’s personal capabilities as well sidewalk-network In this paper, we propose a novel approach computing user-specific route PWMD. Such personalized based the user’s confidence slopes, uneven pavement, etc. We show how user reported levels used aggregate sidewalk conditions routing model offer proposed methodology was developed using fuzzy evaluated by manual wheelchair users Quebec City.
