Use of virgin/recycled polyethylene blends in rotational moulding

Abstract Aiming to further plastics recycling via rotational moulding processing, blends of virgin and recycled polyethylene sourced from post-consumer were developed. Three different kinds high density – bottles, pipes mixed household waste compounded with medium in an extruder. The ideal amount recyclate was chosen based upon the impact resistance contents (25, 50 75%) plastic 50/50 blend found have best performance. Compression-moulded rotationally-moulded samples analysed through falling dart test, flexural melt flow rate differential scanning calorimetry analysis. results compression-moulded showed increase a higher index lower degree crystallinity. specimens displayed much than pure 20–30% reduction moduli, which ascribed crystalline structure part issues blends’ rotomoulding process. It concluded that blending for can be effective way inside Circular Economy context.
