Use of triamcinolone-soaked absorbable gelatin foam (gelfoam) as a treatment for recurrent sinonasal polyposis after FESS in poor candidates for revision surgery

Abstract Background Chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps recurs frequently after functional endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS), resultant poor quality of life persistence obstruction, aches, and discharge as well anosmia dysgysia; revision FESS is usually the treatment choice referred to relief patients’ suffering, yet it not always case, patients preference fitness for general hypotensive anesthesia, age, cardiopulmonary status, concurrent bronchial asthma might render unfit an elective procedure. The aim this study was evaluate efficacy triamcinolone-soaked absorbable gelatin foam (gelfoam) a recurrent sinonasal polyposis in candidates surgery. Results Thirty suffering from single or multiple procedures were selected; all subjected intranasal application gelfoam soaked triamcinolone conservative medical office procedure using weekly period 8 weeks followed by steroid spray maintenance anti-recurrence measure.
