چکیده
The high concentration of CO 2 in the atmosphere and increase sea land temperatures make use renewable energy sources increasingly urgent. To overcome problem non-programmability sources, this study analyzes an storage system consisting under water compressed air (UWCAES). A case for fully power Sicily region (Italy) with source (wind photovoltaic) is presented. From real annual capacity values plants installed Sicily, a sizing both production its auxiliary services evaluated. optimization operation as whole, modeled mathematical models already validated previous studies, obtained through dynamic programming. electricity consumed annually by region, equal to 19048.4 GWh, can be entirely satisfied sources. powered nominal 15, 000 MW equally divided between photovoltaic wind considered. underwater has maximum volume 2.1 × 10 8 m 3 , while compression generation units have total 6, 900 3, 100 MW, respectively. finally presents sensitivity analysis evaluation effects variation produced consumption. results show that carbon-free feeding possible all boundary conditions on met.

Adiabatic compressed air energy storage – a study on dynamic performance with thermal energy storage
Up to day, 70% of the gross electricity (~ 20000 TWh) is produced via fossil fuel; to reduce this share and abate CO2 emissions the energy system will face a dramatic change in the near future consisting in a significant introduction of intermittent renewable energy sources. The implementation of this step change will be possible only through efficient and economic grid-scale electrical energy ...
متن کاملDynamic Modelling of a Compressed Air Energy Storage System in a Grid Connected Photovoltaic Plant
The use of photovoltaic (PV) cells in domestic and industrial applications has grown rapidly through the recent years. Constructing PV plants is a very smart measure to produce free electricity in large scales, especially in the countries with higher solar irradiation potential. On the other hand, compressed air energy storage (CAES) has already been proposed to be employed for energy storage a...
