Urban River Restoration, a Scenario for Copenhagen

Abstract Urban flooding is an increasing hazard and expected to aggravate with climate change. The opening of a piped urban river in Copenhagen explored mitigate as result rising groundwater table. In the case study, hydrological model has been used calculate effect reopening currently its natural environment nature-based solution (NBS). From results modelling scenarios, we have set up simple damage function avoided costs for basin by comparing difference levels without NBS. Stakeholders were engaged from first stages study. integration stakeholder’s knowledge co-design implementation process NBS support complex decision-making processes was carried out (1) participatory activities elicit structure risk perception, (2) mapping interaction among decision-makers stakeholders, (3) deriving Fuzzy Cognitive Maps (FCM) Group Model Building. show that river, economic benefit obtained because now functions drainage channel which prevents subterranean structures, notably housing cellars, receives stormwater cloudburst rainfall events. FCM simulation showed requires effective cooperation different define potential interventions reduce level conflicts facilitate collaborative decision-making.
