determinant of the hankel matrix with binomial entries

abstract in this thesis at first we comput the determinant of hankel matrix with enteries a_k (x)=?_(m=0)^k??((2k+2-m)¦(k-m)) x^m ? by using a new operator, ? and by writing and solving differential equation of order two at points x=2 and x=-2 . also we show that this determinant under k-binomial transformation is invariant.

Upper bounds for the prime divisors of Wendt's determinant

Let c ≥ 2 be an even integer, (3, c) = 1. The resultant Wc of the polynomials tc − 1 and (1 + t)c − 1 is known as Wendt’s determinant of order c. We prove that among the prime divisors q of Wc only those which divide 2c−1 or Lc/2 can be larger than θc/4, where θ = 2.2487338 and Ln is the nth Lucas number, except when c = 20 and q = 61. Using this estimate we derive criteria for the nonsolvabili...

Upper bounds for Gaussian stochastic programs

We present a construction which gives deterministic upper bounds for stochastic programs in which the randomness appears on the right{hand{side and has a multivariate Gaussian distribution. Computation of these bounds requires the solution of only as many linear programs as the problem has variables.

Stochastic Upper Bounds for Present Value Functions

In most practical cases, it is impossible to find an explicit expression for the distribution function of the present value of a sequence of cashflows that are discounted using a stochastic return process. In this article, the authors present an easily computable approximation for this distribution function. The approximation is a distribution function which is, in the sense of convex order, an...

Upper and lower bounds for numerical radii of block shifts

For an n-by-n complex matrix A in a block form with the (possibly) nonzero blocks only on the diagonal above the main one, we consider two other matrices whose nonzero entries are along the diagonal above the main one and consist of the norms or minimum moduli of the diagonal blocks of A. In this paper, we obtain two inequalities relating the numeical radii of these matrices and also determine ...
