چکیده

This study investigates the transformation of activated carbon (AC) powder, derived from polyethylene terephthalate (PET) through pyrolysis, into a specific type short cylindrical carbon. carbon-to-carbon (C-C) was completed by annealing AC powder in co-gas atmosphere He and CO2. produces low-porous, amorphous, micro rods (MCR) micron size. It is suggested that so-far unknown growth mechanism originates oxidation role CO2, initiating curving polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) sheets. step followed layer-by-layer sheet stacking steps to render thick rods. thickness also created simultaneous occurrence rare nanotubes, supposedly formed initially curling small PAH surrounding nanoparticles create tube template for subsequent growth. first example CNT C-C rather than other vapor deposition routes. As main product, MCR amorphous fairly porous, with an average aspect ratio greater 10, which possesses potential applications as mechanical reinforcing or energy-attenuation filler different composites.

Relationships between Biomass Composition and Liquid Products Formed via Pyrolysis

Thermal conversion of biomass is a rapid, low-cost way to produce a dense liquid product, known as bio-oil, that can be refined to transportation fuels. However, utilization of bio-oil is challenging due to its chemical complexity, acidity, and instability – all results of the intricate nature of biomass. A clear understanding of how biomass properties impact yield and composition of thermal pr...

Exclusion of heavy cations from wastewater using activated carbon/NiFe2O4 nanocomposite prepared via co-precipitation method

First, crystalline NiFe2O4 powder was synthesized on a nanoscale dimension by a simple one-step coprecipitationchemical route, and then used to produce activated carbon/NiFe2O4 nanocomposite. Thestructure and morphology of the as-prepared composite was characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD)pattern, transmission electron microscope (TEM) and Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR)...

Co-Production of Activated Carbon and Bio-Oil from Agricultural Residues by Molten Salt Pyrolysis

The feasibility of co-producing activated carbon and bio-oil from rice stalk through molten salt pyrolysis is reported in this work. The results indicated that: (1) mixed ZnCl2-KCl molten salt could considerably improve the solid and liquid yield as well as the ratio of H2 and CH4 selectively (compared to the traditional ZnCl2 method), (2) an increase of pyrolysis temperature had the same impac...

Effect of Gas Diffusion in Graphitized Carbon Rods on Their Gasification Rate with Carbon Dioxide'>'

At high temperatures, the experimental gasification rates of graphitized carbon rods are found to deviate progressively more from their intrinsic gasification rates, aa temperature is increased. This is shown to be caused by the increasing control of the reaction by the rate of transport of carbon dioxide through the internal pores of the carbon rod. The ditTusionalresistance concepts used to c...

Coal and plastic waste co - pyrolysis by thermal analysis - mass spectrometry

Simultaneous thermogravimetry-mass spectrometry studies of a pyrolytic decomposition of mixtures of different plastic wastes/coking coal were carried out. The investigation was performed at temperatures up to 1000oC in a helium atmosphere under dynamic conditions at a heating rate of 25 oC/min. Five thermoplastics, commonly found in municipal wastes: low density polyethylene (LDPE), high densit...
