Unstable particle mixing and CP violation in weak decays.
We discuss unstable particle mixing in CP-violating weak decays. It is shown that for a completely degenerate system unstable particle mixing does not introduce a CP-violating partial rate difference, and that when the mixings are small only the off-diagonal mixings are relevant. Also, in the absence of mixing, unstable particle wave function renormalization does not introduce any additional ef...
متن کامل− φ MIXING AND WEAK ANNIHILATION IN D s DECAYS
The mixing between nonstrange and strange quark wavefunctions in the ω and φ mesons leads to a small predicted branching ratio B(D+ s → ωeνe) = O(10−4)(δ/3.34◦)2, where δ is the mixing angle. The value δ = −3.34◦ is obtained in a mass-independent analysis, while a mass-dependent analysis gives δ = −0.45◦ at m(ω) and −4.64◦ at m(φ). Measurement of this branching ratio thus can tell whether the d...
متن کاملMixing and Rare Decays
Current status of charm mixing search, lifetime difference measurement and rare decay search are reported. The best upper limit at 95% CL for mixing is reported from the CLEO collaboration. E791 has reported lifetime difference measurement and results of rare decay searches. Rare decay searches of the FOCUS collaboration are in progress and their sensitivities to branching ratios are at the lev...
متن کاملHeavy Flavor Weak Decays
Weak decays of heavy flavor hadrons play a special role in our understanding of physics of the Standard Model and beyond. The measured quantities, however, result from a complicated interplay of weak and strong interactions. Weak leptonic and semileptonic decays are reasonably well understood, whereas weak hadronic decays present challenges to theory. In this talk, we review the present status ...
