Unlikely transmission of Cowpea aphid-borne mosaic virus by hand pollination of passionflower

چکیده
Passion fruit plants are self-incompatible and fruiting is exclusively dependent on cross-pollination, which in nature performed by carpenter (mamangava) bees, especially Xylocopa spp. (family Apidae). To ensure satisfactory productivity, daily manual pollination a common practice among passionflower growers. Therefore, we studied whether mechanically transmits the cowpea aphid-borne mosaic virus (CABMV), causal agent of passion woodiness disease. None eight healthy manually pollinated with pollen from CABMV field-infected were infected, as confirmed PTA-ELISA RT-PCR. Healthy inoculated extracts collected flowers not infected. was only detected RT-PCR groups three anthers, 20 anthers infected plants. RT-qPCR conducted different amounts grains indicated extremely low titers. In addition to titers, transmission failure may be associated an absence particles outside and/or enough wounding produced stigmas fingertips. The improbability via during showed that this widely used cultural negligible factor epidemiology

RT-PCR Detection of Seedborne Cowpea aphid-borne mosaic virus in Peanut
In 1995, Cowpea aphid-borne mosaic virus (CABMV) of the family Potyviridae was reported to infect peanut (Arachis hypogaea L.) in Brazil (6). Leaf symptoms consisted of ring spots and blotches, and virus incidence was high when peanut was intercropped with cowpea (Vigna unguiculata (L.) Walp. subsp. unguiculata). CABMV was seed transmitted at approximately 0.15% in peanut and 6% in cowpea (6) a...
متن کاملNext-Generation Sequencing Reveals the First Complete Genome Sequence of Cowpea aphid-borne mosaic virus from Uganda
We present here the first complete genome sequence of Cowpea aphid-borne mosaic virus (CABMV) isolated from cowpea in Uganda and compare it with five CABMV complete genome sequences from Brazil (2), India (2), and Zimbabwe (1). It most resembled the genomes of two Brazilian isolates (MG-Avr and BR1) and one Indian isolate (RR3).

Presence of Recombinant Strain of Cucurbit Aphid Borne Yellows Virus in Iran
Background: Cucurbit aphid-borne yellows virus (CABYV) is among the most important yellowing viruses on cucurbits in Iran. The presence of CABYV has been previously reported from the major cucurbit growing areas in Iran, however, there are few studies concerning the detection of the diff erent strains of this virus in the grower’s fi elds, and especially, there is no report of ...
