Uniformly discrete forests with poor visibility
We prove that there is a set F in the plane so that the distance between any two points of F is at least 1, and for any positive < 1, and every line segment in the plane of length at least −1−o(1) there is a point of F within distance of the segment. This is tight up to the o(1) term in the exponent, improving earlier estimates of Peres, of Solomon and Weiss, and of Adiceam. Mathematics subject...
متن کاملRisk bounds for purely uniformly random forests
Random forests, introduced by Leo Breiman in 2001, are a very effective statistical method. The complex mechanism of the method makes theoretical analysis difficult. Therefore, a simplified version of random forests, called purely random forests, which can be theoretically handled more easily, has been considered. In this paper we introduce a variant of this kind of random forests, that we call...
متن کاملOn Uniformly Discrete Sequences in the Disk
We present an overview of uniformly discrete sequences and their relationship to other important types of sets, such as uniformly separated sequences, sets of interpolation and sampling, and zero-sets for Bergman spaces. Introduction A sequence Γ = {zk} in the unit disk D is said to be uniformly discrete if ρ(zj , zk) = ∣∣∣∣ zj − zk 1− zjzk ∣∣∣∣ ≥ δ for some fixed δ > 0 and all j 6= k. The supr...
متن کاملVisibility in Discrete Geometry: An Application to Discrete Geodesic Paths
In this article, we present a discrete definition of the classical visibility in computational geometry. We present algorithms to compute the set of pixels in a non-convex domain that are visible from a source pixel. Based on these definitions, we define discrete geodesic paths in discrete domain with obstacles. This allows us to introduce a new geodesic metric in discrete geometry.
متن کاملContrast Enhancement in Poor Visibility Conditions Using Guided Filtering
In this paper, extraction of atmospheric veil is proposed to enhance the contrast of the images captured under poor visibility conditions. The method based on guided filtering can accurately recover hidden edges, maintain structural similarity to input image and it is effective for both color and gray level images. The proposed algorithm works without prior information about the scene and its c...
