Uniaxial strain induced symmetry lowering and valleys drift in MoS<sub>2</sub>

Abstract The uniaxial strain is an effective way to change the symmetry of a crystal and thus tuning their electronic properties. In present work, we elucidate physical mechanism symmetry-broken-induced energy valleys drift in monolayer molybdenum disulfide. When reduces rotational from C 3 1 in-plane electric field breaks balance electron distribution valleys, valley dipole can survive readily quantum nonlinear Hall effect might be realized. Our work offers key insights for understanding induced MoS 2 , which critical precisely control valleytronics properties two-dimensional materials.
