Undrained capacity of circular shallow foundations under combined VHMT loading

چکیده
Wind turbine (WT) foundations are generally subjected to large combined vertical, horizontal, moment, and torsional (VHMT) loads. The available investigations of the ultimate limit states WT focus predominately on unlimited-tension soil-foundation interfaces that more appropriate for offshore settings. However, onshore unable resist tensile To address this omission, a zero-tension interface is used investigate VHMT failure envelope circular shallow under undrained soil conditions using finite element analysis. effects strength heterogeneity foundation embedment were investigated. results show loads reduce VHM bearing capacity foundations. also found significantly increase capacity. A full 4-D analytical expression has been proposed based calculated envelopes.

متن کاملBearing capacity and settlement of circular shallow foundations using a non-linear constitutive relationship
The design of shallow foundations is dominated by issues of settlement, rather than by bearing capacity per-se. The ability to predict the settlement of foundations at a given factor of safety is hence of key importance in design. In this paper, the energy method for a linear-elastic perfectly plastic method utilizing the von Mises’ yield criterion with associated flow developed by McMahon et a...
متن کاملBearing Capacity of Shallow Foundations on Cohesionless Soils: A Random Forest Based Approach
Determining the ultimate bearing capacity (UBC) is vital for design of shallow foundations. Recently, soft computing methods (i.e. artificial neural networks and support vector machines) have been used for this purpose. In this paper, Random Forest (RF) is utilized as a tree-based ensemble classifier for predicting the UBC of shallow foundations on cohesionless soils. The inputs of model are wi...
