چکیده
Abstract One of the major tasks underwater warfare is to detect objects such as vehicles, vessels, weapons and equipment. The conduct mostly depends upon advancement detection identification sensors materials. wide variation in types characteristics materials may affect capabilities despite recently developed sonar systems. with high porosity are known provide lower acoustical signature than conventional metallic plates common. aim this study examine efficiency open celled SiC foam ceramics covering and/or casing material for naval mines. Sonar frequencies widely used mine countermeasure operations purposes, 80 kHz, 85 90khZ, 95 kHz 100 were applied acoustic tests. experimental results obtained from shows that ceramic plate leads a 19,2% reduction reflection, 90,5% 96% values transmission 78,4% 68,6% at 60° 30° scattering compared reference steel plate. Article Highlights This investigates performance range 80–100 test pool environment very first time. Highly tortuose porous structure considerable decrease scattering, reflection properties. reveals foams potential candidates reducing future applications.

A Comparison of the Underwater Acoustic Performance of Single Crystal vs. Piezoelectric Ceramic based Cymbal Projectors
The underwater acoustic performance of three same-design ‘cymbal’ based electro-acoustic projectors are compared. Two of these projectors contain PMN-PT single crystal piezoelectric as the active material while the third utilizes conventional PZT-5H piezoelectric ceramic. The units containing the single crystal material show an improvement in the acoustic source level anywhere from 3 to 15 dB o...
متن کاملAcoustic emission during fracture of ceramic superconducting materials
In the ceramic materials acoustic emission (AE) is associated with a rapid elastic energy release due to the formation and expansion of cracks, which causes generation and propagation of the elastic wave. AE pulses measurement allows monitoring of internal stresses changes and the development of macroand micro-cracks in ceramic materials, and that in turn allows us to evaluate the time to failu...
متن کاملCharacterization of Open Cell Sic Foam Material
This paper presents characterization and modeling of microwave characteristics of SiC foam material. Transmission and reflection measurements are performed in X, K and Ka band for the samples of two different pore sizes and three different thicknesses. Effective and frequency dependent dielectric permittivity is extracted for 50PPI 10mm sample, while for the other samples it was not possible be...
