The educational background of peer parents is more than a proxy for quality. We utilize random classroom assignments in China middle schools to study the spillover parental education on student test score. Analyzing Education Panel Survey, we find causal relationship between average college attainment classmates' mothers and student's Besides quality teacher response, identify change mother's parenting style as mediating factor. responses (time, money, style) also differ by family background, leading heterogeneous
