Understanding Root Rot Disease in Agricultural Crops

چکیده
Root rot diseases remain a major global threat to the productivity of agricultural crops. They are usually caused by more than one type pathogen and thus often referred as root complex. Fungal oomycete species predominant participants in complex, while bacteria viruses also known cause rot. Incorporating genetic resistance cultivated crops is considered most efficient sustainable solution counter rot, however, quantitative nature. Several genetics studies various have identified trait loci associated with resistance. With access whole genome sequences, identity genes within reported becoming available. been implicated responses. However, it apparent that at molecular level, each engages unique set proteins either infest host successfully or be defeated contained attempting so. In this review, comprehensive summary potential mechanisms underlying susceptibility against investigated rots important presented.

Phellinus noxius causes root and lower stem rot of woody plants throughout the South Pacific region. Its hosts include rubber, mahogany, cacao, and many timber, fruit and landscape trees. Though endemic to the tropics, we found no reports describing brown root rot disease in native forests, exclusively. Incidence, distribution and host range of P. noxius were measured in primary and secondary r...
