چکیده

This study examines the pattern and trend of seasonal annual precipitation along with extreme events in a data scare, south Asian country, Afghanistan. Seven indices were considered based on intensity, duration, frequency events. The revealed that Afghanistan is unevenly distributed at yearly scales. Southern southwestern provinces remain significantly dry whereas, northern northeastern receive comparatively higher precipitation. Spring winter seasons bring about 80% However, notable declining was observed these two seasons. An increasing for summer autumn seasons, however; are lean periods A also many Analysis reveals general drier condition Large spatial variability found indices. In Afghanistan, trends intensity-based (Rx1-day, RX5-day, SDII, R95p) frequency-based (R10) duration-based (CDD CWD) infer climatic will assist agriculture allied sectors to take well-planned adaptive measures dealing changing patterns precipitation, additionally, facilitate future studies

Formation of runoff at the hillslope scale during intense precipitation

On 60 m2 hillslope plots, at 18 mainly grassland locations in Switzerland rain was applied at rates of 50– 100 mm/h for between 3 and 6 h. The generated flows were measured, including overland flow, near surface and subsurface flow 0.5–1.3 m below the surface. At some locations less than 2% of the rain flowed down the slope either on or below the surface, whereas at some others more than 90% of...

Hot days induced by precipitation deficits at the global scale.

Global warming increases the occurrence probability of hot extremes, and improving the predictability of such events is thus becoming of critical importance. Hot extremes have been shown to be induced by surface moisture deficits in some regions. In this study, we assess whether such a relationship holds at the global scale. We find that wide areas of the world display a strong relationship bet...

Aboveground carbon in Quebec forests: stock quantification at the provincial scale and assessment of temperature, precipitation and edaphic properties effects on the potential stand-level stocking.

Biological carbon sequestration by forest ecosystems plays an important role in the net balance of greenhouse gases, acting as a carbon sink for anthropogenic CO2 emissions. Nevertheless, relatively little is known about the abiotic environmental factors (including climate) that control carbon storage in temperate and boreal forests and consequently, about their potential response to climate ch...
