Understanding cooperation from the experiences of Minang migrant women

Cooperation in the matrilineal Minang ethnic group is considered an essential element of their kinship system, especially cooperation with kins from mother's side. With increasing number women migrating to get a better education, this study aims understand how carried out by migrant and realized form cooperation. In-depth interviews were conducted five Yogyakarta, as part exploratory qualitative research, attempting describe experience's participants. We found that values taught are more inclined towards positive interdependence effective action through coding analysis. Based on these idealizations, was generally achieved mutual help (tolong-menolong) equality matching, where there reciprocal relationship achieve balance, which tends occur at level inter-group relations. also happen within family, parallel ideal system.
