Understanding Conflicts with Religious Dimensions in their Transnational Interrelations

Jihadist terror attacks in Europe, religious sectarianism Syria, Iraq, regional power politics of Saudi Arabia and Iran, tensions between Muslims Christians Nigeria, Ethiopia Bosnia: While those phenomena emerge within their own distinct social, political, economic, cultural context, they also interrelate with another to varying degrees. Accordingly, local socio-political issues intersect religion foster dynamics that transcend into the national, international realm, where anew further dynamics. With social processes increasingly transcending geographical political boundaries most regions world, conflict do not remain unaffected. A growing transnational interplay seems concern conflicts dimensions particular. After all, religions claim universal truths. This paper sketches a theoretic approach describe underlie it.
