Underground ancient mine work ventilation modeling

چکیده
Excavations at the Giro mine located in commune of Sainte-Marie-aux-Mines (France) have revealed a metallic and cylindrical artifact that resembles connecting element for wooden duct sections. Early modern literature, especially De Re Metallica, mention such technologies intended particular to force ventilation underground mines which air quality was harmful miners. The found gallery leading stope seems problematic. numerical simulation flow tunnel makes it possible test hypotheses formulated from archaeological data. These simulations are performed with OpenFOAM, free open source software computational fluid dynamics (CFD). Simulating not only flow, but also heat CO2 production five miners work highlights need system. It appears construction scaffolding can fulfill double function facilitating circulation improving ventilation. This first quantitative approach one main obstacles mining offers new method testing solutions implemented by past.

Chilean underground mine dataset
This article presents a robotic dataset collected from the largest underground copper mine in the world. The sensor measurements from a 3D scanning lidar, a 2D radar, and stereo cameras were recorded from an approximately two kilometer traverse of a production-active tunnel. The equipment used and the data collection process is discussed in detail, along with the format of the data. This datase...
متن کاملApplication of VENTSIM 3D and mathematical programming to optimize underground mine ventilation network: A case study
Ventilation is a vital component of an underground mining operation, used to guarantee a safe atmosphere for workers and survive them from the hazardous and toxic gases. In the recent years, engineers have begun to apply new operation research techniques in order to optimize the ventilation systems to assist in achieving a regulatory compliance, reduce ventilation costs, and improve its efficie...
متن کاملAutomatic 3D Underground Mine Mapping
For several years, our research group has been developing methods for automated modeling of 3D environments. In September, 2002, we were given the opportunity to demonstrate our mapping capability in an underground coal mine. The opportunity arose as a result of the Quecreek mine accident, in which an inaccurate map caused miners to breach an abandoned, water-filled mine, trapping them for seve...
متن کاملConstrained Path Optimisation for Underground Mine Layout
The major infrastructure component required to develop an underground mine is a decline, which is a system of tunnels used for access and haulage. In this paper we study the problem of designing a decline of minimum cost where cost is a combination of development and haulage costs over the life of the mine. A key design consideration is that the decline must be navigable to trucks and mining eq...
