Non-equilibrium conductivity at quantum critical points
Quantum criticality provides an important route to revealing universal non-equilibrium behaviour. A canonical example of a quantum critical point is the Bose-Hubbard model, which we study under the application of an electric field. A Boltzmann transport formalism and ǫ-expansion are used to obtain the non-equilibrium conductivity and current noise. This approach allows us to explicitly identify...
متن کاملScaling in the fan of an unconventional quantum critical point.
We present results of extensive finite-temperature quantum Monte Carlo simulations on a SU(2) symmetric S=1/2 quantum antiferromagnet with four-spin interaction [A. W. Sandvik, Phys. Rev. Lett. 98, 227202 (2007)10.1103/PhysRevLett.98.227202]. Our simulations, which are free of the sign problem and carried out on lattices containing in excess of 1.6 x 10(4) spins, indicate that the four-spin int...
متن کاملCritical parameters for non-hermitian Hamiltonians
We calculate accurate critical parameters for a class of non-hermitian Hamiltonians by means of the diagonalizationmethod. We study three one-dimensional models and two perturbed rigid rotors with PT symmetry. One of the latter models illustrates the necessity of a more general condition for the appearance of real eigenvalues that we also discuss here.
متن کاملCritical statistics for non-Hermitian matrices.
We introduce a generalized ensemble of non-Hermitian matrices interpolating between the Gaussian Unitary Ensemble, the Ginibre ensemble, and the Poisson ensemble. The joint eigenvalue distribution of this model is obtained by means of an extension of the Itzykson-Zuber formula to general complex matrices. Its correlation functions are studied both in the case of weak non-Hermiticity and in the ...
متن کاملTheory of finite-entanglement scaling at one-dimensional quantum critical points.
Studies of entanglement in many-particle systems suggest that most quantum critical ground states have infinitely more entanglement than noncritical states. Standard algorithms for one-dimensional systems construct model states with limited entanglement, which are a worse approximation to quantum critical states than to others. We give a quantitative theory of previously observed scaling behavi...
