Uncertainty quantification of diffuse sound insulation values

چکیده
The sound transmission loss of a partitioning structure depends on the nature fields in source and receiver spaces. In an indoor setting, both are often taken to be diffuse. A diffuse field may represent conceptual ensemble rooms with same volume reverberation time, but otherwise any possible arrangement boundaries small objects that have wave scattering effect. Uncertainty due random is therefore inherently present values. this paper, closed-form expressions derived for quantifying uncertainty, such it becomes estimate by how much particular room-wall-room system deviate from nominal, ensemble-averaged value which corresponds omni-directional incidence halfspace radiation. First, exact expression harmonic or band-averaged variance, based hybrid deterministic-statistical energy analysis theory. Its evaluation requires knowledge dynamic stiffness radiation impedances surrounding fluids. Subsequently, approximate derived, energy-related quantities only, making also applicable experimental setting. Furthermore, demonstrated approximately normally distributed, complete uncertainty quantification mean variance verified Monte-Carlo simulation study involving single wall then validated data double-leaf plasterboard walls containing flexible steel studs. • inherent definition quantified. simple, derived. It can widely applied, even data. difffuse distributed. accuracy numerical validation.

Sound insulation issues
This paper gives an overview of three topics related to sound insulation in buildings. The first project included laboratory and field measurements of sound insulation against aircraft noise. As well as various technical papers, the project produced software to help in the design of adequate sound insulation. In a second project, re-analysis of survey results allowed the development of a ration...
متن کاملPredicting the Sound Insulation of Walls
Between 1990 and 1998, the author published five conference papers which described the gradual development of a simple theoretical model for predicting the sound insulation of building partitions. The first aim was to extend Sharp’s model for cavity walls to cavities without sound absorption. The second aim was to remove the reported over prediction of Sharp’s model for cavity walls. The third ...
متن کاملSound insulation in multi-story timber buildings
During on an extensive investigation of a multi-story timber building with light-frame construction, several stages of the building process and their impact on sound transmission were observed. The sound insulation properties of the building components were measured before and while the buildings were occupied. Furthermore, interviews with the occupants were conducted. This procedure made it po...
