چکیده

This present study was undertaken to investigate the ultrasonic delignification of switchgrass (Panicum virgatum L.) and effects irradiation on molecular microstructure switchgrass. We investigated this question using response surface methodology (RSM) featuring a four-factor, three-level Box–Behnken experimental design with acoustic power (120, 180, 240 W), solid–solvent ratio (1/25, 1/20, 1/15 g/mL), hammer mill screen size (1.6, 3.2, 6.4 mm), sonication time (10, 30, 50 min) as factors, while (%) variable. The native treated samples were further characterized through crystallinity measurements electron microscopy. results lignin analysis show that percent ranged between 1.86% 20.11%. multivariate quadratic regression model developed statistically significant at p < 0.05. SEM TEM micrographs grinds resulted in cell wall disruption micro- nano-scales. XRD revealed reduction mean crystallite index from 15.39 13.13 Å 48.86% 47.49%, respectively, no change occurred d-spacings. investigation induces chemical structural changes switchgrass, which could enhance its use for biofuel bioproducts applications.

Delignification of Switchgrass Cultivars for Bioethanol Production

Three switchgrass cultivars (‘Performer’, ‘BoMaster’, and ‘Colony’ switchgrass) were delignified using NaOH at varying concentrations and residence times at 121 C for improved sugar production in enzymatic hydrolysis. Because of its greater carbohydrate/lignin ratio and the more substantial lignin reduction upon alkaline attack, ‘Performer’ switchgrass gave greater sugar productions under all t...

Comparison of dilute acid and ionic liquid pretreatment of switchgrass: Biomass recalcitrance, delignification and enzymatic saccharification.

The efficiency of two biomass pretreatment technologies, dilute acid hydrolysis and dissolution in an ionic liquid, are compared in terms of delignification, saccharification efficiency and saccharide yields with switchgrass serving as a model bioenergy crop. When subject to ionic liquid pretreatment (dissolution and precipitation of cellulose by anti-solvent) switchgrass exhibited reduced cell...

Ultrasonic Assisted Synthesis and Characterization of xCuO/CeO2–γAl2O3 Nanoatalysts

In this paper, xCuO/CeO2–γAl2O3 nano-catalysts were successfully synthesized by precipitation from an aqueous solution which modified via ultrasonic waves. For characterization of xCuO/CeO2–γAl2O3 samples N2 adsorption results showed that the BET surface area of the CuO/CeO2–γAl2O3, X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM) and energy dispersive X-rays (EDX dot-mapping) were u...

Microstructural aspects of cement hydration – ultrasonic waves and numerical simulation

In this paper, an ultrasonic shear wave reflection method was adopted to mimic the microstructural evolution of hydrating Portland cement pastes with different water/cement-ratios (0.35, 0.5 and 0.6) cured under a constant temperature of 25°C. The reflection coefficient measured with this technique was correlated to microstructural parameters of the cement pastes. The application of numerical s...
